Vintage-Inspired Clothing Online
By Listerino
Thanks
to the rising popularity of TV shows set in the past like Mad Men, the popularity
of vintage-inspired clothing is on the rise. Vintage-inspired clothing is
usually a lot more affordable than actual vintage clothing, and so if you can’t
afford the real thing there are plenty of stores out there inspired by the
history of women’s fashion that you can buy from instead. These stores are bringing out fantastic pieces
that won’t put such a big hole in your purse, look just as good as real vintage
clothing, and the best is it’s all brand new and in great condition.
There’s a tonne of stores online, so to save you the trouble of trying to find
them I’ve created a list of some of the best Vintage- Inspired clothing stores around
today.
(Note: Dress to the right available @ Stop Traffic Clothing)
Stop Traffic Clothing
A very stylish website that has both clothing and jewellery, with both vintage and vintage-inspired pieces. They are inspired by classic movie icons of days gone by such as Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe and Grace Kelly, and I'm sure if they were alive today they would be wearing pieces from Stop Traffic Clothing.
They are a UK-based company, but they do ship overseas. Please contact before making a purchase to make sure they ship to your location and if you're unsure about the shipping fees. Payment is by credit card only.
I love their Blue Ella Dress for 120 pounds, the Black Academy Dress for 85 pounds, and their cute Wonka Handbag for 69 pounds.
Hourglass Boutique
This store specialises in mix and match vintage-inspired pieces to compliment your existing wardrobe. It has a range of adorable must-have pieces that are very affordable. If I could take home this whole store I would. I'm most impressed with their tops and jewellery sections, but it's definitely worth combing through the whole store - and taking advantage of their Christmas sale while you can.
Payment is via credit card and they have a 30 day return policy.
I loved their vine of flowers scarf for $44, Their "She's Electric" Blue Sweater Dress for $48, Their Frolicking Flower top for $47 and their Silver Encrusted Oval Earrings for $10.
The Red Dress (VintageStyleClothing.com)
If you loved the fashions from the movie Titantic or Pride and Prejudice then you're sure to love The Red Dress. A lot of their clothing is inspired from these time periods and their clothing is just absolutely beautiful. The prices are worth the excellent craftsmanship and beauty of these garments.
For those interested they also make custom-made wedding gowns.
Shipping is free within the USA only and although they offer exchanges if you're not happy with your purchase, they do not offer returns so make sure you are certain before making any purchases.
I fell in love with this Pride and Prejudice style Pearls & Stocking dress at $185, this romantic Montmarte gown for $205 and this Dirty Ballarina Dress for $189.
Poetrie
This site focuses on clothing for teens and young women. Everything is fairly cheap and has a modern edge, although the vintage theme is still felt throughout.
You can sign up to receive exclusive deals and also set up a wish list.
Although they only ship to USA and Canada if you are overseas and want to purchase from this store you can contact them to arrange shipping overseas. They also have a 30 day return policy.
I was intrigue by their Cinderella Rags to Riches Sweater $63.99, The Warm Embraces Coat for $129.99 and the Pacific Wavelets Dress for $52.99.
PinupGirlClothing.com
This site has been around for a long time (since 1999) and so you may have already heard of them, but I felt they were worth mentioning because of their very cute retro dresses. Very Mad-Men style if that's what you're looking for, you'll feel right at home.
There's cute brand names like Pinup Couture, Deadly Dames and Dixiefied, a men's section and even children's clothing.
There is free shipping to the US, but if you're overseas then the shipping is a little pricey at $42, and there's a 14 day money-back guarantee if you're not happy with your purchase.
There is quite a huge range so you can easily find yourself spending hours browsing. You'll find great clothing like this 1940s Dress in Mini Fleur de Lis Print for $110, this Erin Wiggle Dress in Berry for $96, these Retro Gloves with Bead Accents and Criss-Cross Design for $12 and this cute Vine Embellished Shrug in Black for $44.
There's still so many more that I could mention, but I think I've left everyone with some great stores to go and explore and so stay tuned for more from me in the future.
Happy Shopping and Merry Christmas/Happy New Year to all my readers.
Cheers,
Listerino
